Destination India-Biotechnology…

Last week, an Indian industry delegation led by Mr.Kapil Sibal was in US to participate in BIO 2006 , Chicago. The Indian Pavilion portrayed the strengths of the Indian Biotech Industry and also the future growth potential. The Indian Pavilion had footfalls from almost all the participating countries from across the world, all interested in knowing about the possibilities of working with India at different levels.

The Ministerial Seminar at BIO was dominated by the Ministers from Asian countries. The Ministers from Malaysia, Taiwan & India assured the participants from US, Europe and other countries about the strong IPR regime in their countries and invited the other countries for business. However, there was still a major skepticism amongst the participants on IP protection of their work in t he Asian countries. There is a need for us to make other countries aware of our IPR protection system and also create & project a conducive IP environment to attract companies from across the world to work with Indian companies………
