Harnessing International Technology Partnership

International technology collaborations and transfers always been viewed to be a difficult proposition. Unless the partnering organisations from both the countries decide to collaborate on the best of their business interests it is not easier for any one else to bring them to common understanding. However there have always been multiple platforms for brining together organizations of interests around the world not limiting only to two. The recently concluded Technology Summit 2007 is the 13th edition of such an effort to bring together international organizations together.

Mr. Kapil Sibal, the union minister for Science & Technology, while inaugurating the 13th Technology Summit at the Pragati Maidan said that CII is considered as one of the pillars of science & technology of his Ministry after DST, DBT, CSIR, DSIR & Earth Sciences. Mr. Sibal spoke about the usefulness of technology and how the way it has transformed our daily lives. He said that while science strives to seek the truth, technology gives control. He mentioned that the influence of technology has transformed civilizations over centuries. Hence technology partnership is very essential in this modern world. He talked about the example of science partnership with Israel even though we have less of other partnerships with them.

The 13th Technology Summit focused on the areas of New and Emerging Technologies - Advance Material, Nanotechnology and Information Technology. The two-day summit deliberated on technologies from Belarus, Russia, Israel and Canada. There were interesting topics including surface modifications Belarus, flame sprayed powder coatings with nano materials and millimeter wave measurements.
