with use of Information Technology primarily for enhancing their process capabilities with respect to production and business and also improved technology for the equipment used for production and packaging. But still there is lot needs to be done at various levels. The Government of India has played a major role in 2007 to come out with policies and programs with respect to technology. The launch of National Design Policy is one such commendable effort in 2007. Policy envisages the strengthening of design infrastructure in the country as well as the spread of design education. This is only a sample of the eventful that passed by. CII continued its journey of technology facilitation and networking in 2007. The initiatives like Technology Export Development Organization proceeded towards new level by working on interest group of SMEs to be served. CII IPR Team registered the Geographical Indication (GI) of Silver Filigree from Karim Nagar District of Andhra Pradesh. Agro Food Processing initiative helped in Tamil Nadu to come out with a plan for establishing cold chains. The Nanotechnology initiative saw experts flying between India and UK. Value added Bamboo products touched more livelihoods and Municipal Solid Waste initiative reached out to more places to provide cleaner energy. The year 2008 has come to us with more opportunities to serve industry. As we move on we would see experts of IPR on our door steps in the spring followed by experts of Nanotechnology. We would see experts trained on Technology Exports in Netherlands and work towards registering more Geographical Indications.
